Thick Crust Pizza
We like pizza and I often make it for my family. Most often, we made thin crust pizza. However, I found out that my in-laws often made pizzas on thick yeast dough, so I also decided to prepare one. The effect is really great, the pizza is tasty, fluffy, like a roll and pizza in one. I would highly recommend it! 🙂
Ingredients:
Crust:
3 cups of wheat flour
1 cup of warm water (can’t be too hot because it will kill the yeast)
½ teaspoon of sugar
1 ½ teaspoon of dry yeast
3 tablespoons of olive oil
pinch of salt
Tomato Sauce:
1 tablespoon of olive oil
1 garlic clove, chopped
1 can of peeled, sliced tomatoes
pinch of sugar
pinch of salt
a pinch of oregano
a pinch of basil
a pinch of ground pepper
100 g of drained canned corn
Additional Ingredients:
1 onion, cut into julienne
a few diced mushrooms
fried, sliced chicken breast lightly sprinkled with gyros spice
a piece of sausage cut into slices
a few slices of ham cut into pieces
1 small red pepper, diced
oil for frying
200 g of grated cheese
Procedure:
Crust:
Mix all ingredients for the dough and knead to a uniform dough for about 7 minutes. Put in a bowl, cover with a cloth and set aside in a warm place for at least 90 minutes until the dough rises.
Sauce:
In a saucepan, heat the olive oil and add the chopped garlic. Fry for a while, but be careful not to let the garlic burn. Add the canned tomatoes and the rest of the ingredients, mix and simmer for 10-15 minutes until the sauce is reduced and thick. At the end, add the corn and mix. Possibly season to taste. Set aside to cool.
Additional:
Additions can be chosen voluntarily, the recipe is just an example 🙂 Heat the oil in a pan. Add the onion and fry for a moment until it is glass-colored. Add the sausage, ham, mushrooms and paprika. Fry until the water in the additives is reduced. At the end, add the fried chicken and mix everything thoroughly (you can season with pepper, salt, oregano or other favorite spices).
Assemble:
When the dough has risen, knead it by hand again and spread it over a tall rectangular baking tray lined with baking paper. I used a plate measuring 36 cm x 25 cm and 6 cm high. Put the tomato sauce on top of the dough, then the fried ingredients and the grated cheese on top. Bake the pizzas at 180ºC (hot air) for 30-35 minutes. You can serve it with garlic sauce or any other favorite sauce 🙂
Enjoy!
