Gołąbki
Gołąbki is a famous Polish traditional dish. But what is funny is that I first eat this when I was in Philippines. My husband like Gołąbki and he ask me if i could cook for him. So of course I tried but it wasn’t perfect before. Since it is one of his favorite i keep trying until i make it perfectly the way he like. Cooked cabbage leaves rolled stuffed with meat and rice inside and with a great taste of tomato sauce and spices. A delicious and simple recipe that your whole family will like 🙂
Ingredients:
700 g ground pork
cabbage
1 onion (finely chopped)
2 tbsp marjoram
salt and pepper
1 egg
2 cups of boiled rice
Sauce:
2 cups of bulion
3 tbsp tomato concentrate
salt and pepper
1 tbsp flour
Procedure:
Carefully remove the core from the head of the cabbage. Fill a large pot with water, cook the cabbage. Remove each leaves carefully (to not destroy) and place in a dish and let it cool. Once leaves are cooled, cut away the thick center stem from each leaf to make it easier to fold. Put all left ingredients in a large bowl and mix together. Put about 2 tablespoon of meat mixture in a center of each cabbage leaf and tightly roll it up. Repeat process until all meat mixture is used up. Put back all rolled cabbage into a pot with a cabbage leaves under and up. Pour with water and cook about an hour.
Sauce:
Boil bulion. Add tomato concentrate and mix. Seperate a half glass of the sauce and let it cool. Once it’s cool, add a flour and mix it well together. Pour it on the pot with tomato sauce and stirring occasionally until mixture is thicken. Add salt and pepper to taste. Sauce is ready.
Enjoy!
