Snickers Ice cream (semifreddo)
Recently, while watching cooking programs on TV, I came across this recipe by Jamie Oliver. My husband loves Snickers bars, so I decided to make Snickers semifreddo and guess what? This is the best homemade ice cream we have ever had. I highly recommend this recipe for warm and cold days, because the ice cream is really delicious that surely your family will love 🙂
Ingredients:
4 x 37.5g Snickers bars, cut into small pieces
500 ml of heavy cream 30% chilled
50 g of powdered sugar
4 eggs
1 vanilla pod (can be also 2 teaspoons of vanilla extract)
pinch of salt
50 g chocolate 70%
Procedure:
Melt the snickers in a hot bath (put the bowl in hot water, but don’t let water get into the bowl). Leave a few pieces of Snickers for the sprinkles. When the bars dissolve, add the chocolate. Stir occasionally so that the ingredients combine. Separate the egg yolks in one bowl from the egg whites in the other bowl. Add powdered sugar and vanilla to the yolks and blend to a smooth, fluffy mass. Add salt to the egg whites and beat until stiff, fluffy. Beat the cream to increase its volume, but do not beat into stiff whipped cream. Slowly and gently add the slightly whipped cream to the yolks and mix very gently. Add whipped egg whites to the mixture with a spoon and again very slowly and gently mix it so as not to remove air bubbles. Pour half of the mixture into the vessel where you will freeze the ice cream. During this time, the Snickers and the chocolate should blend nicely. Add them to the mixture left in the bowl. And slowly, gently mix it until it’s a nice brown color. Pour into the white mixture in a plastic container that you will freeze and mix gently to make a two-color ice cream. Sprinkle the rest of the bars on top. Put in the freezer for a few hours. Serve in a dish or in waffle cones 🙂
Enjoy!
