Wonton Soup
The cold weather made me crave for warm soups these past few days and this wonton soup is a perfect dish. This soup is a Chinese dish made from seasoned broth with pork wonton dumplings. A hearty, healthy and delicious soup that’s easy to make and everybody will like 🙂
Soup:
Ingredients:
8 cups chicken broth
2 garlic cloves, smashed
thumb of ginger, sliced
2 tablespoon soy sauce
1 teaspoon oil
salt and pepper
2 spring onions
fried garlic, for topping
Pork Wonton
Ingredients:
500 g ground pork
2 spring onions, chopped
1 tablespoon soy sauce
1 teaspoon oil
1 teaspoon grated ginger
1 ½ teaspoon cornstarch/potato flour
wonton wrappers, i used homemade
Procedure:
In a big mixing bowl, combine the ground pork, spring onions, soy sauce, oil, grated ginger and cornstarch or potato flour. Scoop a spoon of pork mixture into the center of a wonton wrapper. Moisten the edges and fold into half to create a triangle. Connect the sides together. Place into a floured flat surface. Repeat the process with remaining wontons. Meanwhile, heat the oil into a pot over medium heat. Saute the ginger until nicely brown. Add the garlic and saute for 1 minute. Add the broth and soy sauce and bring to a boil. Remove the garlic and ginger and disregard. Add in the wontons and simmer for 10 minutes. Season with salt and pepper if desired. Serve into bowls and garnish with spring onions. You can also add fried garlic or chili garlic oil 🙂
Enjoy!
