Mazurek is a traditional Polish Easter cake that can be created in various flavors, it all depends on you πŸ™‚ It is also great as a decoration for an Easter table. It is also worth preparing mazurek on an ordinary day, not only during Easter, because it goes perfectly with afternoon tea or coffee πŸ™‚

Ingredients:

300 g flour
150 g cold butter
80 g powdered sugar
1 large egg
strawberry jam
200 g caramel glaze (recipe)
almonds, hazelnuts and walnuts for the toppings

Procedure:

In a mixing bowl, place flour, butter, powdered sugar and egg. Mix them all together until well combined. You can use a mixer or you can do it manually. Once the dough starts to form, knead it lightly and form a round shaped dough. Wrap in a cling film and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes. Knead the dough for a while to soften. Roll the dough and cut into a rectangular shape. Roll the left dough and make a rim then press using a fork. Spread the strawberry jam over the dough and bake at 180ΒΊC for 20-25 minutes. Remove from the oven and let it cool. Once cool, spread the caramel glaze and top with nuts. You can also use a can of butter scotch or melted chocolate and you can top or decorate it with your favorite nuts and dried fruits πŸ™‚
