Red Onion Confiture
Easy to prepare and a very good addition to various types of dishes. Red onion confiture with its sweet taste perfectly emphasizes the taste of cold meats, cheeses, sandwiches or so-called homemade fast food, but also perfectly suits the taste of sauces for dinner 🙂
Ingredients:
3 red onions, peeled and sliced
3 tablespoons of brown sugar
4 tablespoons of vinegar
130 ml dry red wine
1 tablespoon of olive oil
1 heaped tablespoon of butter
½ teaspoon of thyme
salt and pepper to taste
Procedure:
In a small saucepan with a thick bottom, melt the butter and olive oil. Add the onion and sauté it. When the onion is glassy, add sugar and mix thoroughly. Pour all with vinegar and wine and bring to a boil. Add thyme, salt and pepper and mix thoroughly. Reduce heat and simmer for about 30-40 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the sauce is reduced and the onion is tender. Add as an addition to dishes, such as sandwiches, hot dogs or even steaks 🙂
Enjoy!
